Overview

About Pulp Capping Treatment

When deep decay or a sudden chip gets dangerously close to the inner nerve of a tooth, fast action can mean the difference between a simple fix and a major procedure. If the sensitive inner pulp is exposed or nearly exposed, bacteria can invade — triggering inflammation, sharp sensitivity, and eventual pain.

Pulp capping is an advanced, conservative procedure that intervenes at this critical moment, stopping bacteria before deep infection sets in. We gently clean away the decayed area and apply a specialised, mineral-rich therapeutic material directly over or beside the exposed pulp.

This coating acts as an immediate antibacterial barrier while stimulating your tooth to heal itself by forming new, protective dentin underneath. Once the protective layer is in place, we restore the tooth with a durable, tooth-coloured filling or crown that blends seamlessly with your smile.

What to expect

Your treatment journey, step by step

We keep every stage calm, clear, and comfortable — so you always know what's happening and why.

  1. Assess the pulp

We examine the tooth and imaging to confirm the nerve is exposed or nearly exposed but still healthy.

  2. Clean the area

The decayed area is gently cleaned away to remove bacteria without disturbing the healthy pulp.

  3. Apply the protective cap

A mineral-rich therapeutic material is placed over the pulp as an antibacterial, healing barrier.

  4. Restore the tooth

We seal the tooth with a durable, tooth-coloured filling or crown that blends with your smile.
